Many biblical scholars believe Jesus was talking about an ancient form of "medicine”. They are right.
Christ gave voice to the same truths that the Lao Tzu, Buddha, the Sufi's, Hindus, Australian Aborigines, Native Americans, Naguals of South America, and Pacific Islander "primitive" peoples explained as "dreaming" the world in our human consciousness. All these spiritual masters explained integrating dualistic into non-dualistic consciousness.

Such difficult to understand knowledge, in time, became labelled by those who wanted to keep things understandable to the dualistic minds "esoteric" (meaning abstruse) or "mystical" and the keepers of this knowledge were persecuted throughout history by those who formed dualistic religions that matched the common human consciousness assumptions. These assumptions have been proven false by modern quantum physics.
Quantum physics demonstrated that the the building block of matter, the atom, is 99.99999% empty space and so are each of the subsequent particles it can be broken up into - quanta. Quanta change their nature based on the beliefs of the researchers studying them.
